Job Description
St. Anne’s by the Field Episcopal Church in Ankeny, IA, is looking for a part-time Christian Formation & Youth Missioner intern. The church Christian Formation & Youth Missioner will cultivate, administer, and direct the programs of Christian Formation and Education for all ages at St. Anne’s.

The Christian Formation & Youth Missioner is not required to be an Episcopalian, but must attend worship at St. Anne’s and understand and teach Episcopal beliefs.

This is a part-time, 5 – 10 hour a week position with a stipend of $500/semester for 2 semesters. There is chance for a continuing partnership after this appointment has ended.

Since this is an internship focused on one’s call to lay or ordained ministry with a focus on Christian Education, it is important that the candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree or is attending a college with an interest in lay or ordained minister.

The position would begin in September and conclude in May. This position must work on Sunday mornings, some Saturdays, and some week nights.

The chosen candidate must successfully complete a required background checks/training; including: Criminal Record Check; Child Abuse Clearance Check; and State, Diocese, and Denominational Mandated Training.

Program Development
· Overseeing the development of programming for children, youth, and family with the assistance of the priest.
· Develop programs and activities for Youth Group age (High School) and College Group that excite and encourage faith development and growth, are relevant to the time of life, and build relationships.
· Organize adult Christian formation and education programs with the assistance of the Christian Education Committee and the parish priest (e.g., Bible studies, parent gatherings, introductions to the Episcopal Church for new members) and special programs (e.g., Lenten studies and evening education classes).
· Manage Confirmation Program, co-teaching with volunteers and Rector.

Leadership Recruitment & Training
· Facilitating the Christian Education Committee’s work through recruitment of new committee members on an annual basis, participating in committee meetings and supporting and directing programs.
· Recruiting, training, supporting, and supervising Sunday school teachers for youth and adults with the help of the Christian Education Committee. This work includes a teacher training workshop.
· Ensure all adults involved in the children’s and youth ministry programs have met the necessary requirements for serving as a volunteer (such as Safeguarding training and background screenings) and that all adults are engaging in safe church practices.

Vision & Planning
· Foster the involvement of young people in the life of the parish, including serving in various ministerial roles, serving on various parish committees and being involved in parish activities.
· Ensure thorough preparation for programs and activities: information is shared with all necessary parties, proper documentation is collected, the required number of volunteers are secured and trained, and all safety and protection procedures are followed.
· Provide outreach to youth in the areas of advocacy, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, community life, and prayer/worship.
· Providing announcements for church publications and the church website on a weekly and monthly basis for Christian education and formation events and evening and special programs.
· Designing, in cooperation with Christian Education committee, an annual evaluation of all educational programs.
· Overseeing classroom materials and cleanliness, regularly visiting classrooms, and substituting when teachers are unavailable.
· Maintaining registration for Sunday school, adult formation and evening education, and special programs.
