Summary: The Chaplain/Resident Engagement Assistant (hereafter ‘Chaplain’) is a key member of the Thomas Center staff. This person lives in-residence at the Thomas Center and has primary responsibility for carrying out the spiritual, educational and community-building work and ministry of the Thomas Center. The Chaplain has primary responsibility for developing engagement w/the residents & others who may be considering becoming residents; this engagement is essential to the development of an interdependent community – a hallmark of Thomas Center. The Chaplain carries out their duties, recognizing that value is found in formation/continuation/encouraging relationships with residents. Additionally, up to 25% of time will be served in adjunct pastoral support at St. Mary’s exercised at the discretion and direction of the Rector of St Mary’s.
A unique component of this position is that the financial an other benefits are a combination of Stipend, provided housing, and other benefits to be specified. Rather than a ‘job’, this position and the responsibilities are best understood as a ‘Call’ or ‘Vocation’.
