|The Big Bend Regional Curacy is a program organized by the Diocese of the Rio Grande involving 5 congregations (3 Diocesan Missions and 2 Worshipping Communities) in the Big Bend Region of Far-West Texas. These congregations are working together to call a priest in their first three years of ordained ministry for a three year cure serving this the region and learning from a team of experienced clergy and dedicated lay leaders.
The Regional Curate will live in a diocesan-owned 3/1 ranch style house in Marfa, Texas, and, coordinating with the Vicar of St. Paul’s in Marfa, be a presence in the congregations and communities of Ft. Stockton, Alpine, Marfa, Terlingua, and Lajitas. The circuit that the Curate will cover extends just over 100 miles in each direction, and includes many parts of the Borderland of Far-West Texas, parts of the Big Bend National Park, and the southwestern edge of the Permian Basin.
This position is an ideal one for a new clergyperson with a strong sense of adventure and a love for the road, and is a remarkable way to serve with and learn from an experienced team of clergy in an area of unparalleled beauty.
