Job Description
Christ Church + Washington Parish is a growing, welcoming, and bipartisan Episcopal congregation located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC. We are seeking a full-time Assistant Rector that will oversee our multi-generational formation offerings, as well as community building events. Our congregation has grown significantly over the past three years, particularly with young families and children. We are looking for an Assistant Rector who is adept at managing multiple volunteer-based projects simultaneously, a gifted preacher, and willing to bring creative ideas to further our growth. Please submit a resume and cover letter to the Rev’d John Kellogg (rector@washingtonparish.org).

Founded in 1794, Christ Church was the first Episcopal congregation in the original city of Washington. Located six blocks from the United States Capitol, and in close proximity to the Marine Corps Barracks, Navy Yard, and Eastern Market, most of our members live within walking distance of the church.

Our Assistant Rector is responsible for formation, which includes: fine-tuning a thriving children’s program (overseen by a part-time Children’s Minister), building an emerging youth program, assessing the formation needs of adults from diverse backgrounds, and overseeing all community events. The Assistant Rector is invited to participate in all parts of parish life, including regular preaching and celebrating, and attending Vestry and Executive Committee meetings.
