The George Floyd incident shocked the world, inspiring protests and a “Call to Action” to promote racial justice and reconciliation.  Many dioceses throughout the Episcopal Church have responded to this call by appointing offices responsible for the strengthening of Black Ministry Initiatives within the church and community.

The OFFICE OF BLACK MINISTRIES is announcing a 2-day convocation to gather lay and clergy leaders diocesan staff responsible for Black Ministries within their dioceses.  This gathering will allow for the sharing of common mission and vision, as well as the building of relationships, collegiality, and support.  Time will be given to celebrate successes, share best practices and resources, and to generate fresh ideas.  The synergy created through this convocation will facilitate communication amongst staff called to this ministry; strengthen the effectiveness of these offices; and help to continue the church’s social justice witness to the wider community.

The Gathering for Clergy and Lay Leaders responsible for Diocesan Black Ministries will take place June 21-22, 2022 at the Golden Nugget Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.   Registration is $300.00 and covers hotel, meals, and conference resources.  Partial scholarships are available upon request. Please click HERE for Convocation Schedule and Registration Link.
