|Peacemaker Gary Mason of Northern Ireland brings reconciliation ministries to the Carolinas
Internationally known peacebuilder The Rev. Dr. Gary Mason comes in Lent to bring reconciliation ministries that have been effective in Northern Ireland, the Middle East, and in the U.S.
He speaks on Sunday, March 17 at Charlotte’s 6,000 member Christ Episcopal Church, as part of the church’s Faith and Courage Initiative and Lenten Faith Forum series on reconciliation, healing hurt, and building hope. Mason is the founder of the organization Rethinking Conflict. Rector Chip Edens will interview him in All Saints’ Hall at 10 o’clock.
Mason, a Methodist minister recognized by HRH Queen Elizabeth II with an award as Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), preaches at Duke Divinity School at 11:25 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19.
He speaks at a community event on South Carolina’s Grand Strand at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20 at the Waccamaw Library at 41 St. Paul Place, Pawleys Island. Topics include racial awareness and reconciliation in the U.S. – as well as reestablishing civil discourse in discordant political and governmental arenas. Mason also teaches at the University of South Carolina in Columbia on Friday, and he speaks at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Charleston on Sunday, March 24, at the Adult Forum at 10 a.m. and preaching at the 11 a.m. Eucharist. He speaks at 4 o’clock at Hibben United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant on “Creating Community in Fracturing Times.”
