St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will launch an innovative yearlong program called Fully Alive, beginning Sunday, September 8 at 9AM. All are welcome to attend. Developed in collaboration with the Yale Center for Faith and Culture at Yale Divinity School, Fully Alive will explore how faith in Jesus Christ transforms and shapes every part of our lives, from cradle to grave, and from the boardroom to the bedroom. The Yale Center for Faith and Culture has been exploring questions about human flourishing and the good life in divinity schools, seminaries, and universities since 2007. “I am delighted that St. Mark’s will be embarking with us on a year of engagement with the most meaningful question of our lives: “What is a life worth living?”, said renowned theologian Miroslav Volf, founder of the Yale Center for Faith and Culture at Yale Divinity School.

On Sunday, September 22 at 9AM, St. Mark’s will host Volf as the guest speaker at the 9AM forum and preacher at the 10AM worship service. Volf is the Henry B. Wright Professor of Systematic Theology at Yale Divinity School and the founding Director of the Yale Center for Faith and Culture in New Haven, Connecticut. He is the author of many celebrated books, including Exclusion and Embrace: A Theological Exploration of Identity, Otherness, and Reconciliation (1996) and, with Matthew Croasmun, For the Life of the World: Theology That Makes a Difference (2019). “The work of the Center and its director Miroslav Volf is of massive importance to the church today. We are hungry for it. The world is stressed and destabilized, and so are we. As Christians, we believe that Jesus is the source, the course, and the force of all that makes us fully alive. We are delighted to be joining with the YCFC team to bring this life-changing work to the local level,” said the Reverend Peter F. Walsh, Rector of St. Mark’s. The series will feature a host of compelling speakers who will explore the difference Christ makes in particular aspects of our lives, including family, work, money, sex, play, and more.

Fully Alive will include other offerings throughout the year, including regular weekday classes, retreats, a special course for high schoolers, quiet days, and concerts. The 9AM Fully Alive forum and the 10AM service can be live-streamed via the St. Mark’s website at www.stmarksnewcanaan.org. Recordings on demand are also available to watch on the website or the St. Mark’s YouTube channel. For more information or to view a schedule of upcoming speakers, please visit the St. Mark’s website at www.stmarksnewcanaan.org, call the St. Mark’s Church Office at 203.966.4515, or email info@stmarksnewcanaan.org.
