|What kind of event is it?|
|Our Fall 1662 Evensong will be offered on November 3rd at 4pm in honor of All Saints Day. This 45-minute Sunday afternoon “period piece” is one of the crown jewels of Anglicanism and a classic model of worship that offers believers and unbelievers alike an oasis of beauty that is both free of charge and free of demand.
The service will begin with an ancient Kiev chant, Give Rest, O Christ, arranged by Sir William Parratt. The Preces and Responses were composed by a contemporary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, William Smith (1603 – 1645). Charles Wood’s anthem setting of the seventeenth-century poem Never Weather-beaten Sail offers tribute to our departed who reside in “heaven’s high Paradise.”
Join the Emmanuel Parish Choir, Evensong Schola, Choirmaster Christopher Mason, and Organist Michael Fisher for this experience of calm contemplation in inspiring spaces.
