27th Presiding Bishop elected by House of Bishops

[Episcopal News Service] Diocese of North Carolina Bishop Michael Curry has been elected June 27 by the House of Bishops as the 27th presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church. The House of Deputies is discussing a resolution to confirm the election, as is required by church canons. ENS will post more information after that vote.

    North Carolina’s loss is America’s gain. We will miss him, but rejoice in knowing he will do much good for the national church.

    I first heard him preach when he was rector of St. James in Baltimore. He was a great preacher then and he is a great preacher now. May he proclaim the Gospel boldly and be a strong voice for the Church. Thanks be to God!
