Campus ministry grants announced

Posted Nov 11, 2013

[Episcopal Church Office of Public Affairs, press release] Sam McDonald, Episcopal Church Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Director of Mission, announced the recipients of the Campus Ministry Grants, totaling $99,750, for the 2013-2014 grant cycle.

Campus Ministry Grants provide dioceses, parishes or community college/college/university campuses with funding for new as well as current campus ministries in higher education institutions in the Episcopal Church.

A total of 65 applications were received, reflecting $1.3 million in requests.  “This is clearly an indication of the exciting growing interest in campus ministry in new, creative, innovative models,” McDonald commented.  The applications were reviewed by a team of campus ministers, including provincial campus ministers, under the guidance of Bronwyn Skov, Episcopal Church Youth Ministries Officer.

One Leadership Grant and 24 Program Grants were awarded to 20 dioceses.  The Leadership Grant will help establish a new, or restore a dormant, or reenergize a current campus ministry and is for a two-year period.  The Program Grants provide seed money to assist in the start-up of new, innovative campus ministries or to enhance a current initiative.
